Ymeran Hunting Wolves are a species in VAST.
Appearance[]
Ymeran hunting wolves originate from the cold forest planet of Ymir. They bear a familiarity to wolves from Terra, but with some notable differences.
The wolves have six eyes. They evolved in this manner to deal with the high glare and low-light conditions of their home planet of Ymir. The eyes also have a nictitating membrane which allows them to see in snow storms. Their ears are able to close over to keep out the snow. To increase their natural hunting abilities, their noses are trailed by heat-sensitive pits. All these enhancements have made the wolves highly capable at stalking prey in wooded areas.
Ymeran hunting wolves also have two sets of jaws. The major set of jaws open up to an angle of 120 degrees to reveal a secondary inner set of jaws. These secondary jaws are used to hold their prey in place whilst the primary outer jaws slash and tear when the wolves when they shake their heads.
Wolf families bond through playing and mock fights.
